what else is new?
i have more work piled up than i know what to really do with.
desk job, although sometimes boring and stress-inducing, is getting better.
getting into a lot of interesting things over there
technically, i'm learning a lot about how...ya know...technical things work...
there's a million weddings this month with pictures needing to be taken.
and my own things of course.
recently went on a hunt for my lomo camera collection, which appears to have disappeared.
i have a bit of replacing to do or a lot of photoshop actions to create (but they're never the same!).

i did get my caliber.
its perfect for me.
and sparkly and cute too!
can't go wrong when your car has a refrigerated glove box and spare flashlights built in.
not to mention cooled cupholders.
a car built for a fat kid that's always on the go.
heavenly.

i've been ending up with one day of peace a week to sit on the computer and try to get my own work done and we all know that never happens.
today, for instance, my poor goldfish is sick and i will spend what will likely end up being 3-4 hours of emptying, scrubbing and sanitizing, then re-establishing the tank.
shesh.

pictures soon, i promise.
thinking about doing some portrait work.
just need some people.
schedules are always hard to work out.
but i'm not giving up now.

life got hectic!
nothing i expected to happen occurred this week.
not all bad. just stressful a bit.
my much-hated vehicle will be taking its last trip tomorrow to come home and then to somewhere in a scrap pile where it should have been years ago.
this brings about a very long weekend of work and car hunting.
dreadful almost.
but i am excited to say the least.
i have my heart set on a dodge caliber and a caliber is what i set out to acquire.
that or an xterra.
we'll see.
i don't have a ton of time to look on sunday.
but this, in conjunction with weird work hours, explain my lack of schnazzy new art to show off right now.
i hope more soon.
at least new car pics by next week hopefully.

so, i miss summer.
i need it in my life.
there is too much snow and coldness.
and i'm going through my iphoto.
and i want warmness.
and boats with mark & kristen.
and sitting on the beach til i burn to a crisp.
and beers in jeff's yard with jake and laura.
and the aquarium.
and being stupid.
and rollercoasters.
and jeff's fireworks obsession.
i need it.

nothing too fun and exciting going on this week.
everything has been a little hectic starting the new job saturday
and getting some valentines things in order.
i've been working on a few small gift items for the shops and
salons i have my soaps and things in.

Blogging, Day One

So, it's a new year.
Good time for a new start I suppose.
I've decided to start this as a forum to display any new work I begin, and discuss fun art-related topics.
For background, to anyone who may come across this and not be a personal friend, I'm Jess.
I'm 24, I graduated from art school last May with a degree that has done nothing for me.
I have a boyfriend, whom I adore. He is the best thing to ever happen to me.
The last year has been the most impossible and incredible time in my life.
I've survived family tragedy, lost every job I had due to 'slowing of the business', interned for an incredible photographer, took a 6 month hiatus from shooting, and started a small bath and body business.
All of these things pretty much got me back to realizing that despite how hectic life can get, as long as I am working on things and creating and just doing things, all the money and stress and all around nonsense, isn't what makes me.
I'm back and ready to start working again.
I take pictures. I like mixed media and soap making.
It's quite the odd variety or things, but I'm quite the odd variety of person.
Consider this your formal introduction.

Yesterday was the first time I picked up my camera for myself (not other work-related purposes) and I loved it.
It was a rush to have that sort of feeling again.
I'm working on editing those now and hopefully by mid-week, i'll have something for you kids to look at.
Blogspot's still new, so I'm sure this will take me a few days to get used to and learn, all that good stuff.
